Marco Antonio Barrerra

Marco Antonio Barrera Tapia a.k.a. "The Baby Face Assassin" was born on January 17, 1974 in Mexico City. The name Marco Antonio Barrera is one of the biggest name in boxing history, he is a former WBO Super Bantamweight Champion, IBO/WBC Featherweight Champion, WBC Super Featherweight Champion, and a IBF Junior LIghtweight champion. This accomplishments of Marco Antonio Barrera put his name as a future Hall of Famer in the world of boxing.

The young Barrera started his boxing career as a amateur and tallied a record of 56 wins out of 60 bouts. On November 22, 1989, Barrera made his pro debut as a 111-pound flyweight. Barrera was impressive in his pro debut by knocking out his opponent in two quick heats. After that he strongly recorded an impressive record by making a 43 winning streak as a professinal boxer. He captured many world titles and recognized as one of the best pound for pound figther.

He taste his first professional lost at the hands of Junior Jones on November 22, 1996 when he was stopped by speedy opponent at the round 5 but his corner man stepped up on the ring while there is a time left and Barrera suffered disqualification verdict. On April 18, 1997 the rematch took place between two warriors but still Barrera cannot match the style of Jones and suffered a unanimous decision in favor of Jones. One of the best highlights in the careeer of Marco Antonio Barrerra is when he battled with his fellow Mexican Erik "El Terrible" Morales wherein they create a trilogy to conquer a boxing supremacy on their class. Barrerra defeated Morales twice both on decisions and captured the WBC Super Featherweight crown from Morales.

But on November 15, 2005 he suffered his painful defeat courtesy of now boxing super star Manny Pacquiao from the Philippines with 11th round TKO but this bout was not a title fight but the winner was recognized by the ring magazine as a "People's Champion" in the featherweight division. After his lost he bounce back and defeat Erik Morales as a part of their trilogy and captured the WBC Super Featherweight Crown where he defended it many times and later on lost to Juan Manuel Marquez on March 2006. His final bout on his boxing career was a rematch of her conqueror Manny Pacquioa and once again lost but this time via a unanimous decision. Right now Marco Antonio Barrera holds a respect with fellow boxers and of course to the millions of fans of boxing. Many says he is done... but there also saying that the Baby Face Assassin will be back!

Unfinished Business

The anticipated rematch of WBC Super Featherweight king Juan Manuel Marquez againts Filipino star Manny " Pacman Pacquiao " and dubbed as " Unfinished Business "will be set on March 15, 2008 after a long wait of boxing fans around the world. As we all know that the two warrior met in a classic bout last May 2001 that ended a controversial draw wherein the two promising boxers acclaimed that they both win the bout.

This controversial draw left a big question to the boxing fans, to determine who is the best boxer on their weight class division, but this question will be answered as they will will meet again in the four sided ring to showcase their courage and determination to reclaim the supremacy. The WBC Super Featherweight belt of Juan Manuel Marquez will beat risk on this much awaited title bout.
